THE WEDDING

Two months before this couple married, the future bridegroom asked me to paint"something" for them. As I researched for clues, a picture of their individual characteristics as well ar their mission and purpose in life as a couple emerged.

First, a horse was the only thing that came to mind. When the young man told me that he had been compared to an untamed horse in the past, I knew that I was on the right track. His fiancee chimed in that the movie "The black Stallion" was one of her favorite childhood movies.

In high school, the bride-to-be was very frustrated when all of her attempts to go to the prom were thwarted. Her frustration mounted as she had borrowed a beautiful white dress with several layers of tulle. Since her mother was raised in another country, she had not gone through the prom experience herself.

How significant the prom was to her daughter, she found out when she had a dream that her daughter was sitting in a most gorgeous white embroidered dress at a table with many guests. Jesus was standing at the head of this intimate wedding dinner. Then a guest came in, went straight to her daughter, hugged her, saying that if it had not been for her, "she would not have made it" (meaning the quest would not have made it into heaven). Guests kept coming in, one after another, hugging her and saying similar things to her daughter.

The clarity and implication of the sudden recollection of this dream were mind blowing. Now, several years later, this girl would wear her own white dress for the first time in her life.

The painting of the horse, the groom and bride was put in a night setting, because the girl had had dreams of rescuing children from danger. The couple's hair is fiery, as well as part of the sky, depicting the fire of God surrounding their mission in life.

This painting was presented by Tom Koel(Koel Productions) at the couple's reception by the lake side.
